Don't Sweat The Small Stuff ...
I got an email today that ...
well,
it kind of
irked me. By the tone, the person behind it (whom I've never
met) was having a real bad day. But they took it upon
themselves to
take it out on me by blasting me for something I said in one of my
blog post, which they obviously didn't agree with ...
My
urge was to sit right down and defend myself from this irrational,
emotionally charged attack. But I restrainied myself ... I
stepped back a bit so I could put a little perspective on things before
getting myself caught up in another frustrating and frivilous email
debate with a total stranger.
A while back, I got an email
forwarded to me that was circulating around (Thanks Gerard!). You may
have seen it. I keep it in my inbox for moments just like this. I find
it helps to put a little planetary perspective on my little daily
aggrevations ... a great reminder ... "dont sweat the small stuff!
Look at How Big Earth is!
I mean, well maybe it's not THAT big ...
Ahem ...
Beyond our Earth Sun Moon little corner, it's a BIG Universe
...
Antares is the 15th Brightest Star in Our Sky.
It's more than 1000 Light years away.
NOW HOW BIG ARE YOU?
Try and wrap your head around this ...
It's a Hubble Telescope Ultra Deep Field Infrared
view of a slew of glaxies ...
BILLIONS OF LIGHT-YEARS AWAY
Here's a close-up of one of the darkest regions of that photo
above ...
NOW HOW BIG ARE YOU?
AND HOW BIG ARE THE THINGS THAT UPSET YOU TODAY?
LET'S KEEP LIFE IN PERSPECTIVE.
AND DONT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!
I think I'll just delete that email now and get on with more
important things :O)
