The Triangle Pose – Trikona Asana

The triangle pose is called trikonasana, which comes from the Sanskrit roots trini, which means ‘three’ and kona, which means ‘angle’. This practice is one of the primary yoga asanas in the hatha yoga tradition, and its practice yields many benefits.

Benefits of Trikonasana

On the physical level, trikona asana provides a great stretch to many of the muscles of the body. This position stimulates circulation to the spine and excites reflex nerve activity, benefiting the cranial nerves associated with the sensory organs of the head, especially the eyes.

It combats problems with the lungs and breathing, and also helps remedy digestive disturbances such as constipation and indigestion.
